Over the last 18 months, the name Giovanni Damico has been cropping up in all the right places, having released music on Morris Audio, Deso and his own rapidly rising label, White Rabbit.

This one has been in the pipeline for a while now, but we’ve kept it well under wraps…

The next release on Black Key is going to be a various artists EP, with original tracks from 3 of our favourite artists:

BLM // Flori // James Johnston

All 3 of these guys are seriously talented, having released on a host of highly respected labels over the last few years, so we’re over the moon to have such a strong release forthcoming.

The EP kicks off with ‘My Sound Tool’ by London’s Ben Micklewright AKA BLM, the producer behind a string of outstanding releases for labels such as Fear of Flying, Tsuba and Jus-Ed’s Underground Quality. His offering here is a deep and dubby affair with skittering percussion, rich bass and classic deep house stabs rubbing up against understated melodic elements and subtle vocal parts, quality stuff.

The excellent Jamie Taylor AKA Flori, best known for his releases on Freerange, Quintessentials and Secretsundaze, delivers the second of the three tracks. ‘Red Rectangle’ is a pulsing old school workout that marries high strings, analogue stabs and some simple keys to create a stunning record with a wonderful vintage Larry Heard-esque feel to it.

Finally we have DJ/Producer James Johnston, who takes time out from his own No Matter What label to deliver the excellent ‘Lights Off’. This is a wonderfully deep slice of lo-slung house music that sees its elements fused to create an after-hours hypnotic winner.

“Black Key EP” is out now… CLICK HERE to buy the vinyl

To celebrate the 3rd release on Black Key, we’re giving away a Tom Sevinski remix from Andy Ash’s “Broken Nights EP”…

Andy’s “Broken Nights” EP was released earlier this year and has picked up great support from a host of top jocks. Tom Sevinski’s remix takes the a-side, “Broken” into deeper territory, with haunting percussion and lovely break which drops into a peak time houser.

All you need to do is pay with a Tweet or FB post…

Whilst you’re here, please also check out our latest release by the hugely talented Chamboche, backed by 2 sublime remixes from BLM. This is now available on vinyl at Juno Records and a load of other record stores.

“Metacoma EP” has picked up some top reviews, including a 4/5 on RA and 8.5/10 from DJ Mag. CLICK HERE to read the RA review.

The EP opens with ‘Mello’, a deep and laidback slice of house music that draws on warm bass, rich stabs and FX to build a perfect disco infused late night masterpiece. The original is followed by 2 remixes from the much lauded BLM, normally to be found gracing labels such as Jus Ed’s Underground Quality or the excellent Tsuba and Fear of Flying. Here he takes ‘Mello’ and reworks it into a rough and raw house cut with an intense yet deep atmosphere with the second remix going deeper still, using sparse elements from the original to create an atmospheric bomb.

Next up we have the excellent ‘Show It’, a percussive workout with an infectious acid b-line and plenty of tape delay to get the floor moving. Final cut, ‘Perpetual Motion’, journeys into deeper and mellower territory with a mesmerising track that draws you in before dropping a classic and uplifting top riff, sublime.

Strictly limited 300 press, with no repress.

DJ/producer Sam Williams, AKA Chamboché, has been building an enviable reputation over the last few years. His upstart Nottingham based house and techno night, Zleep, at Stealth has been a flying success, whilst his releases for Jiscomusic offshoot Under the Shade have gained him a solid following and support from the likes of Ewan Pearson, Steve Bug, Amé and Tensnake. Williams has recently moved to London and, alongside this stellar release for Black Key, he has records upcoming on vinyl only label TUSK Wax and Under the Shade, he also looks forward to the launch of his own Bricolage Records label.

We’ve just uploaded the clips from BKR003: Chamboché “Metacoma EP”

Sam Williams, aka Chamboché, has been firmly on our radar for a number of months now and has delivered an EP of the top drawer variety. The 3 original tracks are backed with 2 sublime remixes from an artist who we admire greatly – BLM.

BLM co-owns the excellent Fear of Flying label and has a production pedigree in deep house music, having had numerous releases culminating, for us at least, in a stand out EP last year “All Out Of Place” on the vinyl-only arm of Tsuba – Tsuba Ltd.

Anyway, we hope you’ll like the EP as much as we do, here are the clips:

“Metacoma EP” will be released on vinyl 30th April 2012, followed by a full digital release late May

As they say, all good things come to those who wait…

Here’s the feedback we’ve been getting for the EP which, frankly, couldn’t get much better. Our hats go off to Andy Ash, Ugly Drums and Tom Sevinski for a top notch package.
